TTXGP North American Championship 2010 wraps with a Lightning finish

16th August 2010

VIRginia International Raceway sees the concluding chapter of North America's first ever zero carbon championship with Michael Barnes and Lightning taking victory. Close racing with a thrilling finish for 2nd and 3rd, 4th and 5th.

TTXGP North American Championship 2010 concluded with the favourite taking P1 for the race and the regional championship. Michael Barnes from the go launched into the race with the customary catapult acceleration. With speeds on the straights of up to 134mph through the speed traps, Barnes demonstrated the continued dominance of Lightning on the global electric motorcycle scene.

The battle heated up for second and third with Zoe Rem of Team Agni and Thad Wolff on Team Electra duking it out. The Agni started making ground and with a lucky save from a nudge with Brian Evans from Square Wave stayed the lead. On the last lap it suffered a partial motor failure, but by then it was too late for Thad Wolff to take better then 3rd.

The wheel to wheel between Werkstatt and Hannas pushed both bikes to a best lap time that was 00:00.608 secs apart.

One of the real successes of the TTXGP was how close all the teams were for speed and laptimes. The spread has tightened over the series and the accelerated evolution on the track is making itself known in the performance at every round.

All the action now moves for the World Championship Final when the North American stream joins the rest of the world to decide the TTXGP World Series Champion 2010 on October 24th in Albacete.

The TTXGP UK Championship continues with Round 3 at Pembrey on August 21st/22nd, 2010.

TTXGP is being broadcast on Speed 2 and ESPN UK. For listing information follow us on http://www.egrandprix.com/listings
