Brands Hatch UK and EURO Final

4th October 2010

Starting in the same order as this morning, the teams took to the grid on full wet set up, as despite the rain easing, the track was still wet with areas of standing water. Jenny led the field around on the warm up lap and the bikes settled into their grid positions for the final regional rounds this year. The marshal raised the flag, pointed to the lights and the riders set themselves for their last attempt at the titles.

Matthias from Munch Racing got away well from the start and led the way for the first part of the race, ahead of fellow TTXGP EURO Championship teams, CRP Racing and Campus Francorchamps. The trio led the field, constantly swapping positions and fighting for track position, which gave Jenny Tinmouth her best shot of staying with them to battle for a top three position. Despite seeming to be able to gain on the trio under braking and carrying higher corner speed, the European's straight-line advantage over the Team Agni machine let them break away and leave Jenny to settle down to a comfortable pace and race for the UK Championship.

After putting on a magnificent display of clean and competitive motorcycle racing, the top trio finally crossed the line with the Italians ahead again, giving them 3 wins out of 4 this season and crowning them the TTXGP EURO Champions. Gregory Fastre (Campus Francorchamps) came in just behind Brannetti who had managed to drop Himmelmann in the last couple of laps.

Chi-Fung Ho of Team Z ran another very strong race finishing just ahead of Kingston University's Adam Palfreman. Team Z are very pleased with their debut result since they are still adapting to electric motorcycle racing and Chi-Fung Ho was still learning the track in difficult conditions. Adam's sixth place overall gives Kingston's first podium finish in the TTXGP UK Championship after developing the bike since Pembrey and managing to obtain improved performance from the machine.

Pete Ward (Electric Hussar) was passed by Adam in the first half of the race and couldn't stay with him, so focused on snatching the final spot on the podium and gaining 16 valuable championship points.

Jenny Tinmouth's dominant season was aptly rounded off by not only taking the UK race win, crowning her the first ever TTXGP UK Champion, but also took the Green Insurance Fastest Lap Award with a lap time of 1:00.280. This gives her two Fastest Lap Awards, earning her and the team paid entry fees for 2011 by the Green Insurance Company.

As a taster of how the regional championships will fare against each other, an even bigger, more competitive grid at the World Final in Albacete, Spain on 23-24 October is surely a spectacle not to be missed.
