The TTXGP Technical advisory panel met this week to introduce 15 brand new recruits to the independent guardians of the technical rules and regulations.
With the growth in the number of races held as part of the TTXGP World Series 2010, the Technical Panel was going to be stretched... Luckily, TTXGP was overwhelmed with the positive response to this year's call for experts to join our unique autonomous technical advisory panel.
A training session took place at Nottingham University for 15 enthusiastic new recruits from the IET Automotive and Road Transport Systems Network (ARTS), including world leading technical advisors and experts in motorsport engineering, and electronics.
The original 6 became 21 this week to provide an independent process for scrutineering which protects developer and team IP, whilst ensuring compliance with safety requirements. The panel is chaired by Simon Maddison, IET Fellow who led the training day along with Pete James, Richard Wenham, and John Saville, stalwarts from the first TTXGP, 2009.
The IET has an exclusive agreement with TTXGP to host this group of independent experts, keeping impartiality and maintaining the integrity of the process for TTXGP. Their core role is to review technical details submitted by the teams in advance of the event as well as providing a technical inspection team at the race itself. Benedict Green of The IET said "This is a superb opportunity and a great experience."
